The RCH Medical Staff Association exists to represent and support the senior medical staff of the hospital.

The MSA has important roles in fostering many aspects of hospital life and is a focus for:

• communication with hospital management
• industrial relations issues
• advocacy for quality of patient care

  This is a new initiative in 2011. Funds from members contributions will be used to support an advanced trainee with travel expences. There were many excellent applicants. We are delighted to announce that the joint innaugrual winners are Dr Jeremy Rosenberg and Dr Darren Hutchinson. Jeremy will travel to Canada to pursue training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Darren will also travel to Canada to pursue training in Foetal Echocardiography.

Consultant Medical Staff and Fellows are eligible for membership.

We strongly encourage all RCH staff in these categories to support the association by becoming financial members and by attending the business meetings and social events organised. Currently membership costs $2.50/week and this can be taken automatically from members paypackets each fortnight. The payment is taken prior to tax and hence the real cost is $1.40/week.

The following General meetings are planned for 2012. All will be held in the Vernon Collins Lecture theatre in the Learning precinct on Level 1 West Building. For each meeting, refereshments will be available in the breakout area on the same level 1.
