About the Mackinnon Nursing Education & Development Centre
The RCH is in the midst of unprecedented change. To support nurses through the many challenges inherent in change and to achieve the organisation's vision to be a great children's hospital, the Mackinnon Collaborative Practice Centre has undergone a significant restructure. To reflect the new framework and core business, the Centre is now called the Mackinnon Nursing Education and Development Centre. The aim of the Centre is to empower RCH nurses to achieve excellence in their professional practice through the provision of highly regarded education and development opportunities.
To achieve this aim a framework has been created with four streams that will provide opportunities for nurses in transition programs, continuing education, nursing development and nursing research. A very brief overview of each of the streams follows. More detailed information is available from related pages accessed from the menu to the left. Please note that some of the content is in the process of being revised. If you have any questions please contact one of our team.

How do I apply for the Graduate Nurse Program?
-
To apply for a Graduate Nurse position you must first register with the Computer Match Service. Register via the
PMCV's Online Computer Matching Service. Victorian, interstate & New Zealand candidates register & submit preferences. Once this is done, you will then need to complete an RCH Online Application Process by visiting our
Careers website where all the details required for an application are explained.
What are my options for postgraduate studies at the RCH?
-
The RCH encourages and supports nurses wishing to further their career with postgraduate studies. The RCH has a close affiliation with Melbourne University, with the Postgraduate Diplomas in Child Health and Paediatric Critical Care having much of the coursework being delivered on site. However in addition to this, there are numerous short courses in various specialties run on site, while many nurses pursue other qualifications while gaining their clinical experience at the RCH. A comprehensive overview of postgraduate opportunities and career advancement can be found at the
Nursing Resources website.
