Important release notes for Issue 1, 2010
The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) and the About The Cochrane Collaboration database will be published monthly in 2010. The other databases remain as quarterly publications.
From January 2010, the status of a review or protocol cannot change until the content of that article is changed and re-published. This has implications for search results. When a user restricts a search by status (New, New Search, Conclusions Changed, Major Change, Commented, and Withdrawn) the search results now return all reviews and protocols with that status, regardless of when the article was published. For example: A search for all "New" records in CDSR returns 1211 results.
There are three ways to find only the new and updated content in Issue 1, 2010:
- Browse the New and Updated content in the Cochrane browse lists.
- Using Advanced Search, look for CDSR by any status. When the results appear, sort by Date; this will filter the latest content to the top of the list. Results may be further restricted by Reviews or Protocols.
- Using Advanced Search, look for CDSR by any status, and fill in the Date Range as 2010-2010. This will return all results for the chosen status, but only those published in Issue 1 (January 2010). Example: A search for all "New" records in CDSR returns 239 results.
Implications for saved searches
Any saved searches by Status are affected by the above changes. Searches should be re-run and edited to restrict the date from 2010-2010. This will return fresh results for content in Issue 1 only. Further enhancements to allow users to restrict search results by the current issue only are being developed.
