Two new Fact Sheets: MIMS and Embase
These two new fact sheets are part of an on-going process of updating our information on access to library resources in light of recent changes imposed by DoH.
There are now 17 fact sheets on such topics as 'Databases and planning a search', 'Interlibrary Loans', 'Accessing online journals and books', 'Library membership', 'Remote access', 'Searching and saving in EbscoHost', and a basic getting started guide to RefWorks (with another more comprehensive guide on the way).
Read all the fact sheets online, or pick them up in print from the library.
Fact Sheet no.4: MIMS Online
MIMS Online is available via Clinical Resources at the RCH website, or from the library's list of databases. No password needed on site. Off-site access requires an Athens login.
This fact sheet provides tips on simple and advanced searching, image searches, prescribing information, and also explains the difference between the Abbreviated Product Information (PI) and the Full PI.
Read online now or download the PDF (2 pages).
Fact Sheet no.17: Searching, saving and managing search results in Embase.com
An Athens login is required for both on-site and off-site access. Go to the library's list of databases and register for Athens (must be done while on site) or log in with your existing Athens account. You must create an Embase profile on your first visit. On subsequent visits, you will go straight in to Embase after logging in via Athens.
The Embase fact sheet is a comprehensive guide to searching Embase. Be guided through a step-by-step sample search and learn how to use the Emtree Tool to map to the thesaurus, how to combine search lines, limit searches, save search history, re-run your saved search history, and how to manage search results.
Read online now or download the PDF (3 pages).
