The Eczema Education Program will be given by an interactive presentation on Eczema and its treatments and then followed up by a clinic with eczema patients to consolidate your knowledge base. 40 ALM Cat points will be available for GP attendees. We are exploring Practice Nurse accreditation also.

Reflective of an increase in interest about the health and welfare of young people in Australia and New Zealand, the Centre for Adolescent Health offers a comprehensive range of CAP & PD courses. Ideal for those wanting to up-skill in a specific area, the CAP & PD offers a multi-disciplinary approach to learning and are designed to offer students flexibility and an opportunity to either complete an unassessed course, or trial an assessed course before committing to further study. Successful completion of a CAP subject can be credited to the Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Adolescent Health & Welfare. The CAP & PD courses are available on-campus or via distance education, with the latter offering flexibility to study as time permits.
The Grand Rounds Seminar Series is the flagship educational meeting of the Royal Children's Hospital. These meetings are designed to be informative and dynamic. Over the course of the year, the series is expected to broaden our experiences and understanding of child and adolescent health, regardless of whether we come from a clinical, research, academic, or other background.
The Centre for Community Child Health produces a broad range of newsletters, reports, posters and tools for professionals that work with families and children. They also have many helpful resources for parents.

The Department of General Medicine organises a day-long Update in Paediatrics for GPs each May. Experts from a wide variety of clinical specialties at the Royal Children’s Hospital lead discussion regarding topics of direct clinical relevance to GPs in their practice. Information can be obtained through the conference organisers HealthEd (see website) or conference coordinator (Dr Michael Marks).
Be prepared: improve your skills in the early management of acutely ill and injured children. The APLS course is popular and needs to be booked several months in advance. Intending APLS candidates must register on-line and be placed on a waiting list. Letter of offer for courses are sent out about three months before the course.
The Royal Children's Hospital offers a range of education and professional development opportunities for nurses wishing to extend their knowledge and skills in working with children and their families such as the Paediatric Foundation Program and Recognition of Serious Illness in Childhood workshop. The Department of Developmental Medicine Royal Children's Hospital is running two day-long seminars for community health workers who work with children with disabilities. The first on 13th June 2008 is dedicated to Autism Spectrum Disorders, the second on 12th September 2008 will discuss aspects of cerebral palsy. A 50% discount is available for RCH and MCRI staff.

A great opportunity to update your knowledge and skills on eczema, acne, systemic disease, birthmarks, viral rashes and more! This day will provide information from dermatologists, nurse consultants and allied health professionals at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The Centre for Community Child Health has been running a Professional Development Program (PDP) for paediatricians for more than 11 years. It is a two-day program comprising four workshops, in a dynamic, interactive format and is usually in October or towards the end of the year. This program has been designed to meet the MOPS workshop criteria for 2 points per hour.
