About Infectious Diseases Unit
The Infectious Diseases Unit in the Department of General Medicine provides extensive inpatient and outpatient services in paediatric infectious diseases including those in the immunocompromised. Apart from general infectious diseases clinics there are specialty outpatient services established for immigrant health, immunisation and travel medicine. The Unit provides an inpatient infectious diseases consult service to the hospital, telephone advice to doctors throughout Victoria and has a significant commitment to teaching and research. Senior clinical staff in the Unit hold appointments with campus partners The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics and The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
