Environmental cleaning
When any patient is treated in hospital there may be a risk of contracting an infection, either because of the particular disease they have or because of the invasive procedures/operations that may be performed. To reduce this risk the Infection Control Department oversees equipment reprocessing between patient use, environmental cleaning, and placement of patients with infectious diseases and ensures that all staff are educated in the policies and procedures in place which govern these practices.
To measure the effectiveness of this, surveillance for specific infections, organisms or of certain procedures may be undertaken. The results of this determine our performance and allow us to implement changes where required.
Results of these surveillance activities will be linked to this site when available.
