Hush Collection Vol 3 - Paul Grabowsky
Reviewed by Kenny Weir of the Sunday Herald Sun, December 18, 2005
"In short: Numinous testament to the healing power of music"
"Paul Grabowsky has devoted his talents in the past few years to several wonderful jazz-based recording projects.
Among them, his contribution to the Children's Hospital's Hush Collection, a 12-part suite titled Love's Calendar, has an irresistible glow.
The product of the Grabowsky family's interaction with the carers of Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital at a time of serious illness, the album is far richer than the new-age-style subtitle "Music for complete calm" indicates.
Packed with the brilliance of Grabowsky on piano, Gary Costello on bass and Andrew Gander on drums, it is as ambitious and beautiful as anything the Melbourne artist has released, the singular focus producing a magical mixture of complexity and simplicity.
