Some children have other known conditions such as spinal cord tumours or poliomyelitis which may affect their walking. In all these cases gait analysis may be required to decide what surgery will be most suitable for a child.
Other children may toe walk or intoe for no apparent reason. It is important to remember that all children walk slightly differently. Gait analysis can sometimes be useful to tell whether children are simply showing the extremes of this natural variability or whether there is actually something that can be done to help them.
