How do you run a Festival

  • There are three major phases involved in initiating and implementing a Festival for Healthy Living program, which usually takes place over a three year period:

    • PHASE 1 Engagement - includes confirming key stakeholders, establishing local infrastructure and forming a steering committee.
    • PHASE 2 Implementation - includes health promotion and arts-based workshops with staff and students, culminating in performances, exhibitions and community events.
    • PHASE 3 Consolidation - embedding the practices and working for sustainability.

Who can be partners in a Festival for Healthy Living?

This will vary from region to region, cluster to cluster, but will involve several of the following:
    • FHL Statewide Coordinators
    • A regional Mental Health Promotion Officer (MHPO)
    • A team of local performing and visual artists
    • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) staff
    • School Focused Youth Services (SFYS) staff
    • Neighbourhood Renewal
    • A number of local schools interested in working together
    • Representatives of regional education organisations such as DEECD Wellbeing staff, DEECD Student Support Services staff, Catholic Education Office pastoral care and wellbeing staff
    • Community health agencies
    • Family and Child Services
    • Student Welfare Coordinators
    • Local Government, including Youth Services
