Educational Resource Centre

Videoconferencing Service

ERC is the focal point for videoconferencing activity at RCH.  We provide administrative assistance, equipment and technical support to both internal and external clients.  We are committed to supporting and promoting telemedicine and telehealth programs at RCH and for our community partners.

RCH has established a strong presence on the national and international videoconference circuit by offering high quality training and education programs, participating in overseas collaborative aid projects, disseminating research findings and conducting one-on-one patient consultations via video.

We welcome enquiries from departments who may be thinking about offering their training programs or clinical expertise to the wider community via videoconference.

Across the world, videoconferencing is being used to improve the delivery of healthcare to remote or house-bound patients, and to increase the reach of valuable education and training programs to health professionals.

New telehealth streams are developing within a wide variety of health disciplines creating teledermatology, teleradiology, telepsychiatry, and teledentistry.

Our videoconferencing service can be used for the following purposes:

  • Emergency trauma management
  • Remote patient diagnostic and follow up consultation
  • Patient observation and monitoring
  • Live, interactive broadcast of surgical procedures
  • Distance education and staff training
  • Broadcast of conference programs
  • Administrative/collaborative project meetings
  • Simulation observation and feedback
  • Court appearances
  • Job interviews
