PET Scanning

  • What is PET?

PET stands for Positron Emission Tomography. PET scans are used in some patients with uncontrolled epilepsy to help localise the site of seizures. PET scans with FDG (18 fluorine deoxyglucose) show glucose metabolism in the brain. PET scans are performed at the Austin Hospital Centre for PET.
