About the Children’s Epilepsy Program
The Children’s Epilepsy Program is a coordinated clinical service providing access to the best care for children with epilepsy and related disorders.
Our staff include doctors, nurses, psychologists and medical technologists experienced in epilepsy and other childhood neurological disorders.
Our services are available to all children with epilepsy and their families, carers, teachers, treating doctors and other health and educational professionals.
Services are provided at four public hospital campuses, as well as consulting rooms of paediatric neurologists throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria.
We aim to:
- raise community awareness to the many issues facing children and adolescents with epilepsy, particularly uncontrolled epilepsy
- provide patients, carers, families and healthcare professionals with the most up-to-date information about epilepsy and its treatment
- provide a specialist consultative service for general practitioners and paediatricians managing children with seizure disorders
- provide access to the latest clinical assessments, diagnostic tests and medical and surgical treatments for children and adolescents with epilepsy
- be at the forefront of research into the causes, consequences and treatments for children with epilepsy
