About Developmental Medicine

Mission Statement 

The Department of Developmental Medicine is committed to the care of children with disabilities, aims to conduct and promote educational programs and research activity in the area of childhood disability, and strives to promote policies and principles that will best meet the needs of children and empower their families.

The Department promotes the highest standards of care for children with disabilities and their families in the Hospital and in the community. It provides care for children with:

  • Developmental delay
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Intellectual disability
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Spina bifida
  • Acquired neurological problems
  • Other developmental disabilities

Services provided by the Department of Developmental Medicine include management, consultation, liaison/outreach, advocacy, education and research. An overview of services can be found in the Department Brochure (PDF file).
