Literacy promotion in early childhood

  • Did you know that one in five Australian children start school poorly equipped to benefit from social and learning opportunities?

Sharing stories from birth gives children a great start to life.

This workshop will support you to:

    • foster emergent literacy with children - from babies to pre-school age
    • create environments and experiences that support language and literacy growth
    • encourage families to share books, songs and nursery rhymes with their children
    • engage with the local community on early literacy initiatives.

The workshop is suitable for anyone working with young children and their families. For those in early childhood education and care, it will support you to address the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standard and is eligible for Long Day Care Professional Development Program funds.

Course outcome: Participants will develop knowledge and skills to work with children, families and communities to foster literacy development in children aged 0-5 years.

Duration: half day, on request. For enquiries email training.ccch@rch.org.au
