Emerging research evidence about the importance of the early years in setting a child's developmental trajectory and subsequent life course drives CCCH’s research agenda.

CCCH undertakes research into the many conditions and common problems faced by children that are either preventable or can be improved if recognised and managed early. Its main research themes are:

• Development, behaviour and mental health
• Hearing
• Language, learning and literacy
• Obesity

The Centre also undertakes research and other initiatives in the following areas:

• Safety promotion and injury prevention
