Ward Clerks

Ward clerks are available at the nurses' station desk 7 days a week.

Times of duty are:

  • Weekdays 8.00 am - 6.00 pm
  • Weekends 8.00 am - 1.00 pm

The ward clerks perform many duties, including making appointments, answering telephones, filing and maintenance of the Unit Records.

Patient Services Assistants (PSA's)

PSA's perform many duties on the ward including cleaning, meal preparation, collecting and delivering equipment, specimens etc. The ward has PSA coverage from 7am - 7pm, 7 days per week.

Secretaries

The Children's Cancer Centre Office is manned by three secretaries Monday to Friday from 8.30 am - 5.00 pm. The secretaries carry out the administrative and secretarial support for the Unit. They also assist with the financial and billing procedures for patients and are available for any queries regarding accounts. The office can be contacted on 9345 5652.

Blood Collectors

Blood Collectors are employed by the Pathology Department of the hospital and are based on the ground floor of the main building. They visit the ward twice daily to collect capillary blood samples from our patients. Patients attend the Pathology Department on the ground floor prior to their clinic appointment for capillary blood taking.

Volunteers

A member of the Hospital Volunteer programme is assigned to the ward on a daily basis. The volunteer mainly assists the play specialists but is also available to assist with things such as sitting with you or your child if you need a break.  Please let the nurse in charge of the shift if you require assistance from a volunteer.
