Cardiac SurgeonsAs the largest paediatric cardiac centre in Australia, we provide comprehensive cardiac surgical services for patients in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory. We also receive patients from Hong Kong, SE Asia, Mauritius, the Pacific Islands, Africa and elsewhere.

The Cardiac Surgery Unit was founded in 1976 and has performed over 16,000 procedures. We provide comprehensive care for neonates, infants, children, and young adults. Currently we perform 700 operations per year, with an emphasis on treatment of neonatal and complex congenital cardiac problems.

We have extensive experience in cardiopulmonary transplantation, circulatory support (VAD and ECMO), minimally invasive techniques, and reconstructive valve surgery. Our surgical team is supported by excellent intensive care, cardiologyanaesthetic, nursing, and other paediatric specialty services.
