Centre for Adolescent Health
RCH > Clinical Support Services > Centre for Adolescent Health > Centre for Adolescent Health
Our clinical team will see any young person who has a health concern and is willing to attend for an appointment. A young person may attend alone or with a family member, guardian, and/or worker. Wherever possible, our clinicians provide support primarily to the young person, but also to the family, guardian and/or workers within the bounds of professional confidentiality.
The team is primarily staffed by paediatricians in addition to general practitioners, psychiatrists and a mental health coordinator. Common issues addressed include: anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders which are seen in our 'Healthy Eating Clinic', obesity, complex gynaecological issues, school attendance issues, behavioural and learning problems, adjustment symptoms related to chronic illness, irritable bowel and other abdominal problems and other general health concerns.
Common diagnoses made include mood disorders, most commonly anxiety and/or depression, learning difficulties, ADHD, chronic fatigue syndrome, Aspergers syndrome and other developmental problems. Other issues commonly encountered are school bullying and family problems. These patients are often referred to our mental health team and/or our family therapist.
All young people (12 - 18 yrs) attending the Centre for Adolescent Health must have a referral from their practitioner.
If you are a medical practitioner you are required to complete and forward on this referral form.
