Referral Process

The specialised health service staff at the Centre for Adolescent Health, Royal Children's Hospital provide quality health care for young people and their families within a developmental framework. Our clinical services take into account the wide range of family, school, peer and individual issues that can effect young people's health and social environment. We are sensitive to the importance of cultural background, religion, gender and sexuality.

A young person may attend clinic alone or with a family member, guardian and or worker within the bounds of professional confidentiality. The clinical team is primarily staffed by adolescent physicians who address a wide range of psychosocial and physical issues impacting young people from metropolitan and regional Victoria.

The Centre has limited psychiatric and mental health consultation available onsite; Adolescent clinicians will provide assessment, support and information to help consumers link with other health, community and mental health service agencies in their local community.

Health Services at the Centre Outpatient services can only be accessed with a GP referral or by having their GP or other medical practitioner complete the CAH Referral form (PDF 120KB)
