About RCH Burns Unit

The Royal Children's Hospital Burns Unit is a multi-disciplinary team. This team of health professionals includes staff from

  • Surgery
  • Nursing
  • Physiotherapy
  • Orthotics
  • Nutritional Services
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Education Department
  • Play Therapy
  • Social Work
  • Mental Health

The team meets each week to discuss issues relating to all aspects of the patients care.

The Burns patients are cared for in Ward 4 Main but a number of other units are also involved in their management including the Operating Theatre, Emergency Department and Outpatients.

The Burns unit provides ongoing support to families through supporting the Burn Survivors Network.

Members of the team also run an annual camp for former and current patients.
