Biomedical equipment is routinely replaced to ensure that all equipment in the hospital meets current standards. When biomedical equipment is no longer required by a clinical area for any reason, it should be forwarded to Biomedical Engineering for proper disposal.
The disposal of some equipment is subject to legislative requirements.
Inventory records are adjusted to reflect the change in the hospital’s assets. An accurate equipment inventory is essential under the Accounting Standards as well as helping Unit Managers to plan their equipment needs.
