2012 AEDI – Not long now!
In less than six months, the next AEDI data collection starts. From May to July 2012 teachers all over Australia will be completing the AEDI Checklist for children in their first year of full-time school. Results for the 2012 AEDI are expected in 2013.

The AEDI in Schools: Report Time!
A study of the experiences of teachers and schools taking part in the 2009 national AEDI has been completed. Included in the study is an evaluation of the benefits of the AEDI for teachers and schools. Find out more in the AEDI in Schools Study Final Report, now available.

Keep informed on AEDI research!
The comprehensive new Research tab on this website will prove an invaluable resource for all those interested in incorporating AEDI data into their research. AEDI data are currently being utilised in studies in the areas of children with additional needs, the role of the AEDI in schools, language diversity and Indigenous adaptation. Information on these studies, plus reports, journal articles and abstracts and more are now available.

AEDI action showcased at national conference
Community responses to the AEDI were a highlight of a recent national conference - Children’s Place on the Agenda ... Past, Present and Future, held in Sydney on 28 and 29 July. Several AEDI workshops showcased how different communities throughout Australia have used the AEDI results to better understand how children develop and as an impetus for change.

Australian Government commits to ongoing AEDI national implementation
Following the success of the first national implementation of the AEDI in 2009, the Australian Government has now made a commitment to collect these important data every three years. The AEDI commitment, announced under the Australian Government’s 2011-2012 Budget Mental Health Reform package, represents a total investment in the AEDI of $51.2 million over five years (or $28 million per collection cycle).
